There were more than 300 participating companies representing 32 countries, and over 25 leading industry speakers at the expo.

The show, which was inaugurated by YB Dato Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Malaysia, was supported by The Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM), the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA), World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) and Veterinary Association of Malaysia.

The three-day event had several exhibitions, seminars, co-located conferences as well as an ASEAN Product Registration Seminar that offered participants insights to the various regulations for livestock in ASEAN nations.

A major highlight at the show was the Asia Meatec Conference, which covered topics such as World Perspective Towards Meat Industry, Trends in Southeast Asia’s Poultry Meat Industry, and Adoption of Food Safety Measures and Halal Perspective.

The global readiness of the livestock industry in the ASEAN region, in a bid to establish the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), was explored at the show. The enhancement of competitiveness of food, agricultural and livestock products in international markets, and the empowerment of farmers through the promotion of agricultural cooperatives has become the regions priority as the livestock industry prepares to compete on a global level, added UBM Malaysia chairman Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee.

The second World Veterinary Poultry Association and World Poultry Science Association (WVPA-WPSA) Scientific Conference, Biomin Seminar, and a Broiler Technical Seminar were also held. World Eggs Day was co-organised with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Malaysia. The inaugural edition of Halal Ingredients Asia was also held.
